 Fabric Streets and Houses

I use second hand frames found in charity or secondhand shops to frame fabric collages pictures. The pictures are made using second hand fabrics and old clothing

Each picture developes randomly with no fore planning, I just play with the fabrics and colours until I think it looks right.

Sometimes whole streets appear and somtimes just single houses with a tree. The background fabric is sometimes incorporated into the picture too.

Self made recycled garden decorations

These are my new garden mushrooms I made using the stumps of some trees we had to remove. The caps are made using an old anodised aluminium lamp shade and the other is a sheet of printed tin I had lying around. I shaped the tin over and old glass terrarium bottle.  The tin wasn't as pliable as I wished but I am pleased with the final shape.

I cut the top off an old dolls head and filled it with compost and seeded it. Voila a few days later she has a new crop of green curls :) I also sprayed her a nice garden green colour. I believe she will look better as she ages.

The back fence is being decorated with ''faces'' made from old containers, Just cut the top off an old 5 gallon/liter container and add eyes for ''expression"".

Patchwork wallet..

This week I made a wallet for a friend. She had a purse but it was old and she fancied a new one. The ols purse had a coin, note and credit card section and she wanted the new purse to be the same.

I wasn't sure I could manage it technically but hey no harm in trying.

Here is the finished result. Fortunately for me my friend loved it and it is now in her possession. :)

The notes section

 The back

The whole of the inside with credit card slots

The entire outside view

I am now busily making more which I can hopefully sell on my Etsy shop.

Another mushroom

I have been busy making mushrooms again. This one is giant at about 40 inches tall with a cap of about 30 inches The materials used are recycled fabrics and old clothes.

The decorations are buttons and jewellery from my own 'collection'. Here you can see details of the cap with bed and sequin work.

The stem is made using an old stripey scarf.

Mushrooms growing on logs

Theses mushrooms have been inside my head for a while now. It's quite a relief to get them out and into 3D. Each mushroom is a mix of both new and recycled fabrics and they are fille with fibrefill.

They are embellished with an assortment off new and old charms, beads, buttons and other little nik naks like crocheted ladybirds and flowers.

I love to reuse old jewellery and clothing and I scour secondhand shops and markets for nice fabrics I can use.

Each one is totally unique and handmade by me. The logs are from young trees whichhave been coppiced to avoid overcrowding. The rings are clearly visible and there are in this group five rings in all.

They are for sale in my Etsy shop called MrsBellybuttonsfluff. There is a link top right of this page.

I really enjoyed making this first batch of mushrooms and am cerrtain to be making more as I have an idea for an entire pole covered in sprouting multi couloured fungi.

Mini patchwork brooches

These mini patchwork brooches have alocking pin on the back so they won't be lost. They are made using old and new recycled fabrics and are adorned with stitchwork, buttons, seed beads, bells and other assorted bits and bobs such as found objects and old jewellery.

Each one is different and they are approx 4/5 cm square.

I really enjoy sewing these little items as they are easy to handle and I love the fact that each one is unique and very colourful. On such a tiny little thing it's great to have such an assortment of things to see.
