I love making and have a Bdes degree in Design. Here are the products of my evenings. I need to occupy my hands so sewing helps me to wind down after a days work. I find it therapeutic. I'm into all sorts of handmade crafts but I especially love recycled objects made into art. I'm always making something and usually more than one thing at a time as my mind becomes bored always working on the same thing so I jump from project to project.

Patchwork boots
I have covered my army boots in patchwork style fabrics.........I am sooooooooo pleased they turned out this good :) All I need to do now is coat them with a waterproof varnish or laquer and I'm good to go.

This is a clever idea! I have a friend who lives in her old army boots, and paints them with acrylic paints. She'd love this idea too :-)
ReplyDeleteHow did you attach the fabric? Did these fair well over time? They are amazing!

ReplyDeleteThe patches are just attached with PVA glue (school glue/wood glue) which is white but drys clear and remains flexible. The patches did start to peel and driop off so I just went over them with another coating of glue. There are some things on the market that would seal the glue but I have never bothered with that. The boots were also initially a bit stiff but that wore off.
